Hands Off! Rally — Trenton, NJ

On April 5, 2025, Jersey Shore Blue joined fellow New Jersey activists at the New Jersey State Capitol in Trenton for a local action as part of the national Hands Off! Day of Action. The event emphasized visible resistance to authoritarianism, economic injustice, and corporate dominance in governance.

Purpose of the Action

  • Protest proposed federal cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security

  • Condemn rising authoritarian rhetoric and erosion of democratic checks

  • Expose the connection between billionaire influence and extremist politics

  • Mobilize citizens to reclaim political voice and public power

Main message:
“Hands off our rights. Hands off our resources. Hands off our democracy.”

What Happened

Activists gathered with handmade signs, performance art, and placards displaying sharp satire and urgent appeals. Prominent slogans included:

  • “Ignorance Will Not Save You. Fascism Is Already Here”

  • “Know Your Parasites”

  • “So Much Wrong, So Little Cardboard”

  • “The Power of the People Is Greater Than the People in Power”

  • “Workers Work, Parasites Don’t”

The protest unfolded peacefully on state government grounds, demonstrating public frustration with both national policy threats and local silence.

Community Response

Passersby engaged with signs, took photos, and showed support. The demonstration contributed to a sense of shared urgency across New Jersey and added to the larger nationwide visibility of the Hands Off! campaign.

Why It Matters
